A Fun Family Strudel Breakfast With #strudelgram

Friday, March 07, 2014

I will admit most weekday mornings are pretty hectic in my home, we don't get to sit down and enjoy our breakfasts as a family during the week like on weekends! We are running around getting kids ready for school, finding socks, looking for books, can't find the brush, fighting for bathroom time to get those pearly whites brushed.. HECTIC.

Well, it doesn't always have to be! Nope, this past weekend we decided we would stop all the madness and enjoy a nice family breakfast together which we often do on weekends, but this time was different.. Why you ask? Because this time we got to decorate our breakfast AND eat it! What could be better than decorating food before eating it? Nothing!

We were lucky enough to get some Pillsbury Toaster Strudel! We chose Apple and Strawberry. The kids couldn't wait to  dig into the icing and try different drawings of their own. Let me tell you, it's not as easy as it looks! We found out really quickly we aren't that good at drawing, hehe.

It was still loads of fun. We stood around the table and all had our own strudel to decorate. I decorated an Alien, My husband did a hand that he added some extra's on to, the girls tried to do flowers while the little boys just got that icing on them and chowed down! Jordan who has become obsessed with a wrestler named Daniel Bryan, wrote YES! on his strudel before he devoured his... It was a lot of fun! I absolutely love having family breakfasts, which we why every Saturday and Sunday we do. My kids had so much fun with this they asked to do it again (Ava even asked at lunch time if we could do it again for lunch!) Jayden loved being able to create what he wanted with his own packet of icing and Kyla couldn't wait to eat hers, she kept taking bites as she was decorating!

We even entered my alien on to the Strudelgram contest on facebook! Talk about fun, so many people are creative and even drew really amazing drawings on their Toaster Strudel! How they did it I have no idea, but I'd love to get some practice and learn. So cute. If you'd like to take a look, or even enter for yourself feel free by going to strudelgram.com between February 21 2014 - March 28 2014 there is even a chance to win a great grand prize for one lucky contestant!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating these yummy strudels too. We made one with added mini m&ms for eyes and a mouth just to see how it would look! Ava enjoyed eating it too! But even with just the icing these are delicious!

While we may not always get the chance to sit down as a family for a nice fun breakfast during the week - we will always on Saturday and Sunday but now I think  we may just make Sunday a strudel morning... How much fun would that be? Do you get to have a nice family breakfast weekly? Tell me about it - what do you eat?

Disclosure: I am part of the Pillsbury Strudelgram Campaign with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as a part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
