Review: Boba Hoodie

Monday, March 31, 2014

When I was given the choice between a Boba Hoodie or Boba Vest I jumped at the chance to get a Hoodie. Because in Canada it's mighty cold and a hoodie just seemed much more fitting, so I got the hoodie in Black!

I am so glad I did. Not only is it extremely comfortable, but it's extremely fashionable and warm! I have even gotten comments on it from random strangers as well as a man crossing the street yelling over at me "Hey! Did your carrier come with that coat?"

It's fantastic. If you live somewhere that gets cold and love babywearing then the Boba Hoodie is most definitely something I suggest looking into.

Boba Hoodie

"Like your favorite hoodie, made for two! The Boba Hoodie is designed to fit over your Boba Wrap, Boba Carrier or any soft structured carrier to keep you and your little one warm. Works with your baby either on the front or back, and has a hidden zipper for easy on and off. Thumb holes keep sleeves down for easier cool-weather layering. Made of a soft terry blend of cotton and spandex. (Please note, this is just a hoodie, not a baby carrier.)" - boba.com

Features:

  • May be worn on the front or back
  • Made of 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex
  • Hood
  • Two zippered pockets
  • Side openings allow you to access your baby to breastfeed and tend to your child's needs
  • Works great under a coat for cold temperatures
  • Side zipper for easy on and off without scratching your baby

Mine has been getting great use. In the snow, and now in the still cold but less than freezing start to Spring weather too.
Nicer weather but still pretty cold, but not us!

Cuddly and Warm waiting for the kids at the school bus stop!

Not only does the hoodie zip up the side which makes it extremely easy to get on over the Boba carrier but I got a Large so it would be a little bit bigger on me which makes it even more comfortable for the both of us! It even has thumb holes for my hands to keep warm! It's a fabulous design, and truly does keep mom and baby warm!

The Boba Hoodie comes in Black or Grey, Retails for $70.00 and comes in 4 different sizes

If you are a babywearer and would like something more than an open sweater for yourself and a blanket that keeps falling off baby, look into a Boba Hoodie. You will not be sorry!

Welcome to Canada!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Sorry I've been slacking a bit here on the blog. We've been dealing with major issues with the kids school. We had to pull them out, and today they finally started at a new school... so I'll be back to normal now!

Alright, now I know Target has been in Canada for a little bit now (a year or so I think?) but I've never had one near me or close enough for me to get to easily so I have never been. That is until one opened up right around the corner from me 2 weeks ago!

Oh boy, am I hooked now! I've been at least 5x now since the opening, and every single time I leave with at least one or two things, if not 20 from the One Spot. How much fun is One Spot?

I've been buying a ton of stuff for my planner - and I'm always checking for Washi there which I can't ever find. But everything else I've found and I stock up. Lots of page flags, pens, paper, pads, note book, OH MY GOSH it's like planner crafters heaven! I love it.

I've gotten lots of stuff like I mentioned for my planner, but also another little adventure I am planning in the next couple of months. Although its a "dollar" section I find the stuff great quality, and nothing like Dollar Store items I've gotten in the past. LOVE IT..

Forget the rest of the store, One Spot is my absolute favorite!! I won't lie though, I checked out the kids clothing yesterday for the very first time as well and I was impressed. While I think Wal-Mart still has a bit better prices, Target has a much bigger variety and MUCH cuter clothes. Ava was with me yesterday and went nuts over the girls clothing section.

The toy section also blew her mind. She wants nothing but a Target gift card for her Birthday in August so she can go pick her own stuff for her big day. Talk about easy to please!

The only thing I'm disappointed in with our Target? No Scrapbooking section, no Washi tape and it's so big it will be hard to get used to. Those aren't really big issues, they are minor and most definitely not stopping me from going there all the time and loving it! The employees are beyond nice (much nicer than the down the street Wal-Mart) and because it's so new its SUPER clean, like really clean.... Wal-Mart? Not so much. I hope it stays that way. It's also in a new mall that's opening very soon so I'll be there a lot for just about everything as the new mall has Carters, Bulk Barn, Micheal's, The Children's Place, Dollarama, Winners.. etc!

Welcome to Canada target, I'm one happy shopper here!

Review: WAHM Series - Made Just For You By Lisa

Sunday, March 23, 2014

A few months ago I posted an ad on Instagram looking for work at home mom's tht would like to have products reviewed. So to start off my WAHM reviews - We have the amazingly talented Lisa of Made Just For You By Lisa. I got to choose anything in her Etsy Shop so I chose Padded strap covers / Suck pads for my Boba!

I chose the alligator pattern with brown minky on the other side to go with my Boba in the Tweet pattern.

They arrived and I fell in love. They are absolutely adorable! Justin has started teething so of course it's the perfect time for these padded strap covers / suck pads! They fit on perfectly to my Boba 4g and don't move around like few I tried in the past, they are comfortable and are reversible so I can use either side.

These retail for $20.00 and are excellent quality, I've used mine numerous times and have had multiple comments on how adorable they are! She even has fabrics that go mazingly well with lots of SSCs.

If you are looking for quality, work at home mom products I highly recommend Lisa at Made Just For You By Lisa not only is she extremely talented but she is super sweet and great to work with!

She has loads of items listed in her shop: Padded Strap Covers, Wet Bags, Reusable Zippered Bags, Pacifier Clips, Burp Cloths and more! Check her out today!

If you are a WAHM and are interested in being featured in my WAHM review series please feel free to send me a quick e-mail!! Just note: I cannot review or promote Diapers or Diaper related products. Thanks:)

Quick & Easy Apple Crisp!

Friday, March 21, 2014

There are so many versions of Apple Crisp. I find countless recipes every time I'm scrolling through Pinterest a lot of them look delicious but usually when I have the idea to make it I am on a time crunch so I found a really quick and easy recipe here - she's Brilliant by the way, all of her recipes are to die for! So I waned to share it with you all.. Yum!

I tweaked it a bit to make a big batch of it for our large family, but her original recipe is just as perfect!

  • 8-10 Apples - peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 3 tablespoons of  flour
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • dash of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 butter
  1.  Peel, Core and cut apples into chunks. Put in baking dish - sprinkle with 3 tablespoons flour and sugar...Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  2. In a small bowl mix brown sugar, rolled oats. Add dollups of butter. Use fork to crush all around and make course chunks.
  3. Place in oven on 375 for 30 minutes.
  4. ENJOY!
Easy right? I left out flour in the topping as I felt I didn't need it and this turns out amazing every single time.

The Life Planner & Washi Tape Addiction!

Friday, March 14, 2014

I've known about Erin Condren and the wonderfulness of her planners and notebooks for quite sometime now but I never bought one because the shipping to Canada is quite large. ($39.99 to be exact - but SO worth it!)

Well, I finally decided to purchase my very 1st Erin Condren life planner. I was told by friends it could be in production for a short time but then shipping to me could take a few weeks... Boy was that wrong!

I ordered on a Friday and I had it the next Thursday! Less than 1 week. I was very very impressed. But a little disappointed too because thinking it would take a while I had my planner start in April. So I am waiting until I can fill it up!

It arrived in this beautiful box, wrapped in some gorgeous tissue paper smelling wonderful of gardenia, tuberose, white florals perfectly balanced by ginger, spices and fresh greens. the scent created to smell of Bora Bora where Erin and her husband honeymooned. It smells heavenly. It also came with some a sample pack of Gift Labels. Which I absolutely ADORE and need to order, and will be ordering. I should have read the website more clearly because I had no idea they were coming, however - it was a nice surprise!

I ordered this bright beautiful planner called Happy Stripes. I loved everything about it. All the colors, the writing and although you could add a photo to the front and back I chose to leave it blank so I could enjoy the happy colors.

The pages are fabulous. There is a month at a glance calendar of the month, then turning the page you get your weekly days for planning. Now this is where the excitement comes in!

Stumbled upon the hashtag #ErinCondren on Instagram and was immediately blown away at what people were doing with their planners.

Washi Tape? What the heck was that? Well it's gorgeous tape often made of rice paper (or masking) that come in many colors, patterns and sizes. People were using them to brighten up their days, make their planners cute and creative. I was in awe.

So of course I had to go on the hunt for some too. I found some at my local dollar store. But that made my need for these so much more. This was my first time out looking for "Planner goodies"

My SIL was heading to Michaels and offered to grab me some. Now here is my full stash of washi..

I have 12 more on the way I bought off etsy, and another roll on the way from a co-worker that our Michael's didn't have. It may be addicting but look how adorable the days look what them..

Right?
LOVE.

Well even though I chose my planner to start in April, I have started to add Birthdays, doctors appts and things I already have planned into it. Even started using the washi, and stickers to things I know are coming up.. It looks so cute. But I can't wait to get all my blog plans into it, and all my weekly day to day plans too!

Do you have a planner? Would you like to try Erin Condren too? Why not sign up and get $10 off your 1st order with my code: CLICK HERE

Once I am able to use mine regularly I will post again. I'm excited to washi washi washi and decorate it weekly! So cute and gives me something to do at night when the kids are in bed!

Review: Obounce Activity Center

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

This is one review I couldn't have been more excited to do. This product is life changing. At least it has been for us!

I received the Oball - Obounce Activity Center for review.

Justin is a very high maintenance baby. Which means he always needs to be held or worn in order for me to get anything done. So I was excited to see if this would help us any. Sure enough it did!

He absolutely loves it.

"With lights, sounds, music and those dynamic Oball signature toys the Obounce Activity Center will have your little one busy and bouncing. This unique bounce pad is textured and designed to allow baby to safely bounce and explore the rest of the activities offered. There is a 3-position height adjustment so this activity center can grow with baby, and the seat rotates a full 360 degrees so baby can reach every enticing toy station. There are 15+ activities including 2 electronic toys and all have lights and sounds. The high back seat provides extra support and this activity center folds flat for convenient storage. "

He loves the music and lights but especially he loves all the bright colorful toys. He sometimes gets frustrated that he can't pull them off to chew or pull them closer to chew (oh teething!) It's very strudy, and has 3 adjustable heights for the bounce pad which means when Justin grows the Obounce can grow with him!

What makes the Obounce different from all the others? The features of course!

FEATURES:

  • Unique textured bounce pad
  • 15+ activities include 2 electronic toys with lights, sounds, and melodies
  • High back seat provides additional support and comfort for baby
  • 3 position height adjustment
  • Seat rotates 360° for full access to toy stations

The bounce pad in its self is quite amazing. Justin feels like such a big boy when hes in it and bouncing up and down, it is by far my favorite feature - along with the seat being able to move 360° as I always have him right with me while hes in it and he likes to move around and follow me which the seat allows him to see me at all time!

We've had many exersaucers along the way, even have one for Justin which we will now be giving away to keep the Obounce because nothing compares to it. 15+ activities is nothing I have seen on another before, especially lights and sounds!

Having 6 kids can prove to be very busy, especially when one such as Justin always needing to be held. The Obounce has allowed me to shower, answer e-mails and other quick activities I need to get done, done. Without having to hold him or wear him.. Have you ever tried to baby wear while unloading/loading a dishwasher? That can be difficult but thanks to the Obounce its no longer a worry. Bring it in the kitchen, Put him inside and hes happy as can be for the 10 minutes I need to tackle dishes!

I genuinely love this product, and wish I had it for all previous babies. It would have been a life saver. If you are looking for something to catch your little one's interest and attention, something that is durable and has many options such as toys, sounds and lights then the Obounce is for you!

A Fun Family Strudel Breakfast With #strudelgram

Friday, March 07, 2014

I will admit most weekday mornings are pretty hectic in my home, we don't get to sit down and enjoy our breakfasts as a family during the week like on weekends! We are running around getting kids ready for school, finding socks, looking for books, can't find the brush, fighting for bathroom time to get those pearly whites brushed.. HECTIC.

Well, it doesn't always have to be! Nope, this past weekend we decided we would stop all the madness and enjoy a nice family breakfast together which we often do on weekends, but this time was different.. Why you ask? Because this time we got to decorate our breakfast AND eat it! What could be better than decorating food before eating it? Nothing!

We were lucky enough to get some Pillsbury Toaster Strudel! We chose Apple and Strawberry. The kids couldn't wait to  dig into the icing and try different drawings of their own. Let me tell you, it's not as easy as it looks! We found out really quickly we aren't that good at drawing, hehe.

It was still loads of fun. We stood around the table and all had our own strudel to decorate. I decorated an Alien, My husband did a hand that he added some extra's on to, the girls tried to do flowers while the little boys just got that icing on them and chowed down! Jordan who has become obsessed with a wrestler named Daniel Bryan, wrote YES! on his strudel before he devoured his... It was a lot of fun! I absolutely love having family breakfasts, which we why every Saturday and Sunday we do. My kids had so much fun with this they asked to do it again (Ava even asked at lunch time if we could do it again for lunch!) Jayden loved being able to create what he wanted with his own packet of icing and Kyla couldn't wait to eat hers, she kept taking bites as she was decorating!

We even entered my alien on to the Strudelgram contest on facebook! Talk about fun, so many people are creative and even drew really amazing drawings on their Toaster Strudel! How they did it I have no idea, but I'd love to get some practice and learn. So cute. If you'd like to take a look, or even enter for yourself feel free by going to strudelgram.com between February 21 2014 - March 28 2014 there is even a chance to win a great grand prize for one lucky contestant!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating these yummy strudels too. We made one with added mini m&ms for eyes and a mouth just to see how it would look! Ava enjoyed eating it too! But even with just the icing these are delicious!

While we may not always get the chance to sit down as a family for a nice fun breakfast during the week - we will always on Saturday and Sunday but now I think  we may just make Sunday a strudel morning... How much fun would that be? Do you get to have a nice family breakfast weekly? Tell me about it - what do you eat?

Disclosure: I am part of the Pillsbury Strudelgram Campaign with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as a part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Guest Blog: Living Through Construction

Wednesday, March 05, 2014

We have lived in our home for just over 5 years. We have been talking for some time about finishing our basement. Our house was a new build so there is nothing down there but a cement floor and some insulation on the walls. Our house isn't very big, so we definitely want to complete this project to get the most space out of our house.

About a month ago my husband finally started working on the basement. We know this project isn't going to be done overnight because he is only working on it in his free time from his regular daytime job. So far most of the framing has been completed and drywall is going up in certain areas. Then we will move our belongings to the other side of the room and finish that.

I know I have been waiting for 5 years already, but I REALLY want this done. I seriously cannot wait and am beyond excited. It is currently such a mess, as expected. I can't wait for the fun parts to buy paint, pick out flooring and decorating of course. (Yes I'm such a woman)

With the kids being sick, my daughters birthday, hubby's crazy work schedule and now him being sick nothing has been worked on in over a week. I know it will eventually get done, but it's so hard to wait. I can handle it much better because it isn't right in front of me. I have a hard time living through construction and mess, I get anxiety over it all. Interestingly enough I can close the door and it all disappears...except when I do laundry, but I'm okay with that.

Hopefully sooner than later I can write a blog saying that my basement is done. Wish us luck!

Is anyone else renovating or changing things up in your house/apartment? Do you love or hate the whole process? Tell us about it.

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. Heidi

Giveaway & Review: Mega Bloks Barbie™ Build 'n Play Luxe Camper!

Monday, March 03, 2014

My girls were so thrilled to be able to help me with this one! The Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'n Play Luxe Camper we received for review and the girls couldn't wait to crack open that box and play!

There was quite a few pieces - 305 to be exact so I decided since the two little boys were napping I would sit and help them out. Before I could even  begin the directions Ava had half the Camper built, and Kyla was well on her way to building Barbie, Chelsea and all the little accessories that come along with it! I was shocked, but then again, kids can do just about anything these days!

I really didn't do much but sit and watch, the girls were able to do basically of it on their own. They both were very set in building their own little pieces to the set. It was nice because usually they are fighting, arguing or taking things from one another but I was shocked to see how well they worked together. They were really excited to get the pieces all done and together.

They spent over an hour working, and by this time little brothers were both up from their naps. So they decided to take what they had built and go off and play with them together.... Here was what they accomplish all on their own:

They ended up playing with them for over 2 hours in the playroom, and I heard little to no peeps from them! A few times they ran up and down to grab Barbies, and other toys to play with as well, but they really had a lot of fun.

Although there was quite a few pieces, they were able to read the clear instructions provided and build it all on their own! The photos on the instructions were so Helpful it made them feel like they could do anything on their own - and this was awesome. They were so proud of what they built, it was really fun and a great learning experience for them!

It all stayed together really well too, no pieces were falling off and they were able to stick all the items on a shelf for today after school when they were done. Both girls, ages 7 and 6 are looking forward to coming home to play with their Luxe Camper!
