For as long as I can remember my mom had tattoos. I always thought they were the coolest, and I knew I'd have some one day. Well, 2 days ago I got tattoo #5. I also have an appt next week to finish up my tattoo I have for my kids (it needs 2 stars added for Jackson and Justin!) and for tattoo #6. I cannot wait!
When I was 16 and my mom passed away I finally got my first tattoo. It is dedicated to my mom, and says "Mommy's Girl" It's on my stomach to the side, and its been through 6 pregnancies and still looks the same. Now that I've had other tattoos done, I see what crappy work it was, but it's still dear to me regardless because of what it means.
I know some people think "omg, tattoos are for life! you shouldn't get them!" but I love them anyways, and mine are all where they can be covered if needed no problem.
I can honestly say, to this day 4 out of my 5 tattoos didn't hurt. The one done just 2 days ago? WORST PAIN! It felt like burning, and deep, deep, pain. But, I'm told it's because it was on the top of my foot and it's a pretty sensitive area due to the thin skin! I'd agree.
I am impressed with how it turned out though. I love every single one of my tattoos. Next week, #6 is an autograph of someone famous that recently passed away. I've taken 6 months to think about it and I decided I wanted to do it - It means a lot to me. I donate to this persons charity monthly, I have for a long time, and I always thought autograph tattoos were super cool.
Here are all my tattoos to date, in order of when I got them!
My very first tattoo on my stomach - says "Mommy's girl"
My 2nd tattoo I got when I was 18 on my lower back.
3rd tattoo on my right wrist. Big yellow star symbolizes me and the others are my kids. Need 2 more for the 2 babies!
On my left wrist my hubby and I have this matching tattoo. His has a J in the middle for me:)
And my beautiful 5th tattoo I got a few nights ago on my right foot. My beloved Orca whale, which if you know me at all know is one of my all time favorite things in this world.
Do you have any tattoos? what are they? If not, and you'd like one what would you get?
My sisters and BILs are all tattooed up and they like that, it's just not for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the stars because of what stands for.I think people should be able to do what they want with their own bodies without someone judging them.As they say you only live once do things that you will regret not doing :-).
ReplyDeleteIs your next tattoo an autograph from Paul Walker?? Just curious and I have 8 and I would love more!! Tattoos are awesome! So scared to get my foot tattoo because of the pain lol!
ReplyDeleteYes it is:) great guess!

ReplyDeleteYou've got some great ones! I love the coloring on your wrist!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because my daughter will draw matching tattoos on her skin to be like mommy. It's cute. Love your tattoos.
ReplyDeleteoooh and that orca is dark - no wonder if hurt so much.
ReplyDeleteI have seven and I am planning my eighth right now! I love all yours.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend in high school was obsessed with Orca whales! Love your stars one for your kids!
ReplyDeleteI have one tattoo. I am surprised it made it through all of my pregnancies
ReplyDeleteI have 5 as well. My first one is on my shoulder and it is half of a broken heart with a halo and a wing. I got it on my 18th birthday. I have thought of covering it up though because I got it with my high school sweetheart of 4 1/2 yrs at the time. We were planning to get married but broke up about a year after that. My 2nd one is a Wizard Mickey Mouse which stands for my Dad who also passed when I was 16. It is on my lower back. I went back and added a My Little Pony to it as well. Then my last one is a purple and blue tree frog on my ankle that matches my sisters. We got them the day before she shipped off to go over seas to Kuwait back when the war first started.
ReplyDeleteThe orca tattoo is really nice...love it! I also like how whimsical the stars/love tattoo looks - almost like an illustration for a children's book. I have one tattoo on my upper arm that I can cover easily. Got it in college and I drew it, so it has sentimental value to me. It is a jaguar (not colored it) where the tail and the front foot phases into a thorny line (hard to explain, I guess) In the middle of the cat, is the Tao sign for "middle". Chose that for the quote 'Those who obtain the middle, dominate the whole.' To this day, I am amazed that I ever got one because I don't like pain or needles. Honestly, I think the sound of the needle bothered me more than anything.
ReplyDeleteYou have some cute tattoos. A couple of my sisters have tattoos as well as my niece.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tattoos, but my grandma has one (a butterfly) and my dad has several from his time in the Navy. (They include my name and my brother's name.)
ReplyDeleteI don't have tattoos but all three of my kids do. I choose not to tattoo and you choose to tattoo. I don't see a problem with that. I like the reasons behind yours.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I can't do this - I am so scared it would hurt me too bad!! I am such a wuss! LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't have any because I cry at needles. I really do. My daughter has three of them though, and one is huge.
ReplyDeleteVery cool tatoos. I wish I was brave enough for one.
ReplyDeleteMichelle F.
I have an accidental tattoo that is really just a squiggle line on my right middle finger. I cut my finger while scrubbing the under carriage of a car during a youth fundraiser and got grease deep in the cut. Despite my efforts to clean it, I couldn't get the discoloration out. I even went to the doctor over it, and he chuckled and said I'd given myself a tattoo. It's been there for 10 years now. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do not have any tattoos and I am 32. I would love to get one but I haven't found anything I would like to keep for life. I think when I do get one it will symbolize my kiddos.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are truly cool tattoos. It looks painful though. :)
ReplyDeleteI have two tattoos -- a dove and a heart and a quote from a song. I love my song lyric tattoo!
ReplyDeleteI love them. I love the stars. I haven't gotten my yet, but it is a money thing.
ReplyDeleteI had the needle put into my skin one time to see if I could sit through a tattoo and NO WAY! I'm too much of a wuss, but I love how you have a tattoo dedicated to your mom. I always wanted to get a tattoo dedicated to my sister. She passed in 2005.
ReplyDeleteI have a tattoo but I got it when I was young. I think honestly mostly to irritate my mother. It doesn't bother my -- I don't mind it but if I had to go back I wouldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteI love tattoos and have two of my own. One on my back in a scroll with vines that has my husbands name and one on my shoulder with two birds that says love. I'm thinking of getting matching ones with hubby as well. Love yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the tattoo on your foot.
ReplyDeleteI love your LOVE tattoo with the star, super cute. Yay for getting your 5th tattoo! I use to tell my dad I'd get tattoos when I got older, he had lots.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I would want a tattoo but I do now. My husband passed away a couple years ago and I would like a tattoo of a heart on the inside of my wrist.
ReplyDeleteNot my thing at all. But I have seen some well done tattoos that I secretly wished I could pull off.
ReplyDeleteI don't have tattoos but I do appreciate them on other people. I don't see myself every getting one but if I did it would have to be about something very dear to my heart.
ReplyDeleteI have one tattoo. It's a surfing Tasmanian devil. I got it many years ago and honestly I still like it.
ReplyDeleteI was never brave enough to get one. If I ever did, it would definitely be a representation of my kids
ReplyDeleteI don't have any but my husband has a small one. It's actually a pitiful excuse of one he did himself as an adolescent. It's a really squiggly cross, LOL!!! I will more than likely never get one - but if I did, I always said it would be of something small probably on my foot. I always loved the little chick feet that the Dixie Chicks have on their feet.
ReplyDeleteI have one tattoo in honor of family members I lost to breast cancer. Not sure if I will get another one though....I think if I find an idea I love the I probably will.
ReplyDeleteI have one tattoo. It hurt! I'd like to get something that symbolizes my kids.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any but I really want one! Something to do with family though.
ReplyDeleteI have actually have 2 tattoos. One covered up the other! My first was a pixie- age 18. Second was a bunch of daffodils to cover the pixie- age 21!
ReplyDeleteI was about to get a tattoo when my brother in law died. Just didn't happen. You have some nice tattoos.
ReplyDeleteI got my first tattoo when I was 18, it's two dolphins pointing in opposite directions and forming a circle on the base of my neck. I want to get another one so bad I just can't decide what I want and where I want it.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tattoos. I change my hair style and color at least once a year because I get bored looking at it - I can't imagine picking something to be on my body for the rest of my life and not getting tired of it after too long!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that you found a way to express yourself and to show off an artistic side in way that makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteI love classy tattoos, but I would never get one. I love the idea of something that really represents you.
ReplyDeleteYour tattoos look very interesting and I love how they represent your life. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your tattoos with us! I have one - a black panther :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any, but when I was young, they weren't the in thing like they are now.
ReplyDeleteSweet! I love the vibrant colors of your stars and that you didn't color them all in.
ReplyDeleteI am going to be 31 next month... I don't have a single tattoo! I really want someone to draw out one with all of my kids names for my foot.
ReplyDeleteFair few tattoos here. In order of getting them a crown on the small of my back, a half sleeve Japanese storm with cherry blossom branch on my left arm, a half sleeve three ages of women on my right lower arm and my guardian angel on the top of my right arm. A castle and key covering my left thigh, a family of birds covering my right thigh.
ReplyDeleteSlightly addicted? Why yes I am lol
