Canada Day Cele!

Friday, July 04, 2014

Having a fairly big family means we don't get out too much as a whole family. We don't drive or own a vehicle which is fine with us because being in Toronto with direct access right out our door to buses, subways and street cars getting around isn't much of an issue for us.

We decided this past Tuesday that it was Canada Day and it was about time we took the kids out to see fireworks up close and celebrate Canada's Birthday as a family, instead of watching from afar from our windows or front yard.

Boy am I glad we did! We went to a park a short bus ride away. The City was putting on a show with Bouncy Castles, a Michael Jackson tribute show, BBQ, games and more! They also had 2 ice cream trucks and countless music going on. It was a lot of fun.

We arrived shortly after 5pm .and walked around for a little bit. Bought some BBQ (sausages, hot dogs and burgers) we let the kids play at the park, and then we went to find a seat to watch the fireworks.

I asked my hubs to take a photo of me and the kids while we waited for the show to start and he took quite a few, of course this was the best one. Someone is always looking away, making a sour face or just not having it!

It was a great night. Of course the bus home was packed as hundreds of us tried to make our way home. A nasty old lady was pushing through all of us at the front of the bus, she pushed Ava and Jayden so I told her to relax and hold on... She told me to "Shut UP!" Of course P and Jordan along with some others on the bus jumped to defend me - but I just laughed her off, someone so miserable doesn't deserve my time not do I need my kids seeing me justify that girls nastiness.

We got home just after 11pm. Kids had a snack and off to bed we all went. It was a great time and next year I look forward to taking them out again to celebrate our wonderful Country's Birthday.

Wishing all our Neighbours to the South a Happy 4th of July today!

  2. That sounds like a fun celebration. We usually do similar things for July 4th here in the US, but it's raining, so we are stuck inside this year :(

  4. Miserable people drive me nuts. I sometimes tend to be one of those people that stand up to them and make them feel small and stupid. There is no reason for their behavior! Ugh. Looks like you had a great day!

  19. My fiancé and I have 6 kids together (he has 3 and I have 3) and I definitely understand the challenges that come along with taking them all out. It sounds like you and your family had a great time. Bummer about the rude lady, but some people just aren't happy - especially around the holidays.
