Celebrating 29 Years!

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Yesterday was a big day. We celebrated my 29 years of life! Yep, it was my 29th Birthday.

Isn't my cake beautiful? My sister in law who I have previously blogged about made it for me and it was not only delicious but absolutely beautiful. You know me? You know I love whales. So this, was totally me.

The day started off a little rocky. We all slept in, and I woke up with a migraine. My husband was suppose to plan the day for us but both things he had planned was all based on weather, and the weather kept reporting rain was coming. So, he had to search for something else for us to do. I wanted to do something as a family and something we hadn't done before.

He decided since I'm not from Toronto, and I don't know where basically anything is we'd go on a sightseeing tour! I was thrilled. We were going to tour downtown and all the main attractions on a double decker sight seeing bus and then head out on a boat to tour the islands! Talk about fun!

It was so much fun. We were lucky enough to get spots on the top, which made seeing everything so much more exciting for the kids. I didn't  get many photos from the bus tour because I was watching, listening to our guide and trying to wrangle Jackson at the same time! I also had to breastfeed Justin on top of the bus which was something I never thought I would have to do but did, which was neat! Double decker bus feeding:)

After the bus tour the bus dropped us off at the harbor front to catch our boat tour. This was the part we were all looking forward to the most I think! Hubby had my camera during the boat ride and got some wicked sky line photos of this beautiful city!

Spectacular views! It was a really great day! I had a lot of fun. Although I didn't get a ton of photos because of having all the kids with us, babywearing, and rushing I think the photos I got were okay. Hubby did pretty well too! We finished off the night by going home, having subs for dinner and eating my yummy cake! What a great day to begin year 29....

A Day At High Park

Saturday, July 26, 2014

We haven't been able to do too much this summer like the past few... With my husbands work schedule we haven't been able to go on many day trips, and our usual trip to Niagara Falls for a week we couldn't do due to having so many pets now! So we are keeping busy and finding things to do around the city.

Yesterday we decided to pack up and head to High Park. We packed a huge picnic and off we went! We walked some trails and went to eat lunch. Then the kids got to play at the big park that has a huge castle they all absolutely loved. This was rebuilt a year or so ago due to a fire, and Mike Holmes from the tv show Holmes on Homes rebuilt it with his team. It was the first time we had seen it since the re-built and I was impressed.

After we went over to the small little zoo they have in the park. The kids loved it, and of course had me take some photos..

After the zoo we took the long walk through the park, stopped for an ice cream and the kids played for a little bit more before we headed home around 330pm. It was a full long day, and when we got home Jackson fell asleep on the couch, as did Justin and the other kiddos watched a movie. We decided to go to the park at the end of our street when everyone finally woke up because we had a late lunch, they all slept and we needed to keep them up a bit later so why not let them run whatever energy they had left off.

It was a great day and night. A late night which was a bit out of our norm. Usually we stick to a pretty tight schedule, but it hasn't seemed to effect them today (thank goodness!) so it was great. They all even slept in until 9a this morning which is UNHEARD of. So, no complaints here! Next week is my Birthday so I'm excited to see what the husband has planned. I told him he could plan my whole day, and I just wanted to do something as a family even if it was a lazy day at home in the pool - I don't care, I just want us all together and hanging out for my last Birthday in my 20's!

BobaAir Review

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

As many of you know I love Babywearing. I have used Boba for 3 years now and I absolutely love their SSC's. I have used many others but to me none are as wonderful as Boba.

I am a Boba Ambassador but I can assure you my reviews are 100% my own, and true. I really do love Boba.

Today I am sharing my review for the BobaAir with you.

I received the BobaAir in Gray, which is one of my favorite colours! It will also be much cooler in the coming weeks in this heat!

"The BobaAir is an ultra lightweight baby carrier that is great for travelers or any parent on the go. It folds up into its own hood pouch to be easily stored in a purse or diaper bag! The BobaAir is intended for children 15-45lbs." - bobafamily.com

  • Weight Range: 15-45lbs
  • Waist Belt: 25"-58"
  • Fits Adults: 5'0"-6'3"
  • Buckles Used: Duraflex
  • Zippers Used: YKK
  • Shoulder strap length: 20" to 40"
  • Fabric 100% Nylon
  • Height of the body of the carrier: 15.7". Height of the waist belt: 5.1"
  • Width of the Seat of the Carrier: 12.5"
  • Weight of the carrier: .7 lbs
  • Made in China

We went for a family walk and decided I would wear Justin in the BobaAir to give it a test! Not only was it ultra comfortable, it was also extremely lightweight for me and Justin loved it too! Not bulky or hot which is a huge plus in these hot summer months.

It wasn't a really hot evening when we went out so I am
waiting for a super hot day to bring it along with us again to see how it fairs but I have a feeling it will be super airy for the both of us. Babywearing in the summer can be super hot especially while I'm still losing this last bit of baby weight so this is a carrier that is perfect for summer heat.

I will admit I was very surprised to use the BobaAir and not have any big comfort issues. While it may not look very comfortable at first glance, it really is.

I wore the BobaAir for just over and hour in total this outing. No padding didn't really make too much of an issue for us. I could however start to feel a bit of discomfort in my shoulders nearing the end of the walk when Justin wanted to nurse and go to sleep so he was a bit squirmy... Which is when I think the padded shoulder straps would have prevented but I really have no big complaints.

I wore it again to run to the store last night and again, no complaints. It's simply a great carrier. My favorite part about it? It folds its self down into a pouch that can be taken anywhere and is so super compact! With a price point of $65 you can't go wrong!

I will of course use my Boba 4g and beloved favorite 2g for long outings and trips but for short walks or grocery trips the BobaAir is a fantastic choice! I will absolutely keep it in my purse and diaper bag to use on the go!

If you are looking for a budget friendly, good sturdy carrier without the bulk, weight and comfort compromise the BobaAir is a perfect choice!

As always, I wanted to remind about safe babywearing. I check the hashtag on Instagram often and see a lot of people babywearing incorrectly.... It takes time and practice (heck I can't even wrap on my back yet, I'm too scared!) so please do your research and practice safe babywearing!

Loved 90's Kids Toys

Friday, July 18, 2014

Being born in 1985 means I grew up in the 90's getting to enjoy all the wonderful toys that were once all the rage. My kids toys sure don't compare to what I grew up loving! After showing Jordan a bunch of kids toys I had as a kid, and him having NO idea what most were I  thought I would do up a post with some of these toys and see how many people remember them too! I got a kick out of finding all of these, what a trip down memory lane!

Glo Worm
These are still available today, but this is how they looked back when I had a glo worm! I don't know why I had one - I never really used it, but it was always in my toy box!

P.J. Sparkles
All the girls loved little Miss PJ Sparkles. She was one of my all time faves. I had two of them and wish I would have kept them for my girls.

Tamagotchi
I loved this. I had 2 plus a Nano. These were so popular at one point, and totally amazing. Keeping these things alive was a huge chore though and I couldn't ever keep up with it. Totally fun and my kids would have loved it though.

Puppy, Kitty and Pony Surprise
I had Pony Surprise. Mine was pink and white and had 3 babies. I remember being SO upset that mine only had 3 babies when others I knew had 4-6 babies! But this was always one of my absolute favorites!

Kitty Kitty Kitten
I asked for this for Christmas one year. I finally got it, a calico exactly like the one pictured. Oh boy did I ever love my kitty kitty kitten. Her name was Patches like my grandparents calico and I took her everywhere with me, Lol.

Dear Diary Talkback
I had one of these and LOVED IT SO MUCH. Every girl I knew either had one or lusted after one. I remember feeling so cool having one, but I always kept forgetting my darn password! This is another I wish I kept for my girls!

POGS
Oh my gosh. These things were ALL the rage when I was in grade 5. I remember very vividly at recess the WHOLE school sitting on the ground, outside playing pogs against each other. I had the cool metal slammers... and boy was this so much fun. I loved my pogs, I had so many too!

Skip It
I think these are still available now... I'm not sure. But these were so much fun, I was a master at skip it - I don't think I actually owned one though I think I just used everyone elses!

Clackers/Slappers
I have NO idea what this is called but again, there was a time these were all the rage. They were frustrating yet SO MUCH FUN at the same time! Lol...

Trolls
I had Hundreds of these dolls. I have no idea what happened to them when my mom died and I moved out, I wish I would have kept them. I had so many.. Some with jewels on the belly, clothes, oh you name it I had it! These were amazing.

Pogo Ball
I'm not sure if that's the official name or not but these were amazing too. I had one of these, and I don't think I ever did very well with them! LOL

Popples
I had a purple one, but I never knew what it was called.. at least not now until I saw the photo and remembered my favorite purple one!

What was this called?
I have no idea what this is called, but I LOVED IT. My brother and I used to play this for hours on end lol.

Lite Brite
Had this and loved it for years. I was so excited a few Christmases ago to get my kids one but was so disappointed at how cheap, flimsy and NOT THE SAME as it once was!

Slap Bracelets
Used to go around slapping them on peoples arms. It was a ton of fun, and would always make a good laugh. I recently saw these at the dollar store and discouraged my kids from getting them HAHA.

Stick-On Earrings
You just weren't a fashion icon if you didn't have on some stick-on earrings! These were AWESOME.

Silly Puddy
My brother loved this stuff. I had a few of them and we would bug each other with them all the time. I recently saw it at Target and Jordan wanted it when I told him it was from back in the day... He got it, and wasn't too impressed with it. haha kids these days ;)

Source of most of these photos: Pinterest

There are SO many I could post. I have 4 pages written out of fun and awesome toys I remember and loved. I will post more at a later date because I absolutely love the memories that come along with them! So much fun.

Do you spot any you remember? If not, what were some toys YOU loved as a kid? Doesn't even have to be from the 90's I'd love to hear!

A Movie About A Movie They Don't Want You To See

When Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense - but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark. To kick things up a notch, they decide - why not? - to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea - until they discover that their most private video is no longer private. With their reputations on the line, they know they're just one click away from being laid bare to the world... but as their race to reclaim their video leads to a night they'll never forget, they'll find that their video will expose even more than they bargained for.  - SexTape Official Movie Site.

CAST: Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper, Rob Lowe

Have a sneak peek at the Movie Sex Tape hitting theaters July 18th!:

It looks absolutely hilarious! I love Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal so this movie it totally going to be a hit for me!  I'm sure we can all relate to this movie in some sort of way.  I have a story from about 8 years ago I can share with you all.

How do we keep that "Fire Lit"? you probably think it's nearly impossible with us now having 6 kids, but we do. Having 6 kids just changes it up and probably makes it a bit more exciting because we don't want to be "caught" or walked in on.. So, I think it makes it a little bit more fun.

Anyways, Although I couldn't imagine ever making a sex tape it does remind me of about 8 years ago when Jordan was the only child and about 3 years old. It was the beginning of our relationship (we ended up married a year later!) so things were fairly new, and "giggly" exciting. It was Christmas time and he was off at my In laws visiting. We decided to curl up in the living room, pull out the sofa bed (yes, I had a sofa bed back then!) We decided to have some "us" time and in walked my mother in law and her friend.. Jordan tagging along behind. We had lost track of time, it was 8pm and Jordan was coming home for bed. Luckily no one saw anything, but the music from the very innocent movie and the lights being off, and the fact we JUMPED as fast as we could made it pretty obvious and fairly embarrassing. No one said anything, or ever brought it back up but it was something I've never forgotten. I still may be a little mortified. My now husband couldn't really care less because no one saw anything but us girls know how embarrassing something like that can be, am I right?

Mother in law laughed it off, and her friend made a joke. So we were able to quickly move past it but at the moment I wasn't so sure that would happen! Things happen, it's life - I think the most important thing is to not take things so seriously and just remember if it isn't hurting anyone, then its okay!

Not nearly as bad as what happens in Sex Tape the movie but it's at the top of my worst list!

Do you think Sex Tape looks like a movie you'd be interested in seeing? I think it looks absolutely hilarious and can't wait to go see it!

Jamberry Nail Wraps Giveaway!

Sunday, July 13, 2014

I'm sure by now everyone has seen the numerous people online selling Jamberry Nail Wraps. I know on my Facebook and Instagram I have at least two handfuls of people who sell.

Well, I was pretty skeptical because I have never found anything besides some brands of nail polish to actually stay on my itty bitty nails.

I won some Jamberry nail wraps on Instagram (thanks Katie!) and decided to give them a try. When they showed up I sat and put them on my toes. My toe nails aren't very long, I've had to deal with in grown toe nails my whole life so I've kept them short to avoid over growth and ingrown. But they went on like a dream and looked adorable. Sorry, yes I have ugly feet.

I kept them on for 2 weeks. Had many compliments even a lady at WWE last week commented on how much she loved them! I decided to order from Sammie - a brand new consultant! When my order finally arrived I decided to switch my toe nails - but I didn't have to. They still looked as good as the day I put them on, I was shocked.

Now I have pretty flowers on and it's been 4 days, still going strong.

I ordered some Jamberry Junior nails as well for my girls and their tiny danity nails too! They were so excited, of course I had to do theirs right away too!

Cute right? I'm impressed, truly.

Because I am so impressed Sammie has offered for us to do a giveaway AND have a little party on Facebook for those who may want to order some beautiful looking nail wraps for themselves! YES they are a bit pricey, but I PROMISE it's well worth it. I absolutely love mine, and I have some on my tiny finger nails too because I'm a bad nail biter and I need to stop - I've had them on my fingers for 3 days and I refuse to bite them because I want them to stay pretty! You can get an average 2 manicures and 3 possibly more pedicures from one set depending on nail length! How awesome is that?

Want to try win some? We are giving away these gorgeous adult nail wraps & These adorable Junior Jams! One winner will score both!

If you would like to enter the giveaway below AND would like to take advantage of helping Sammie with her new journey in consulting please click here! She's a wonderful mama and expecting #2 in September! Visit her jamberry: http://easyjams.jamberry.com
- You can also select "Six Time Mommy" party at check out so we know you heard about it from here!

Giveaway will end 7/20 and prize will be mailed from Canada directly to winner... Open to CAN/US residents. Please note shipping times to USA may take a little bit once mailed. Huge thank you to Sammie for this giveaway.
